I couldn't agree with Rebecca more, it is so important to to have a deep technical knowledge and understanding of the accounting services you want to provide to your clients, whether that is audit, tax or general consulting. The only real way to gain that type of technical expertise is to spend some time working in the field with other professionals. Once you have that expertise you can start to develop your own client contacts and consider opening your own practice.
Hope this helps!

That is great that you want to pursue a career in accounting! There are many opportunities within the accounting field, and your career can take you a number of different places. If your goal is to start your own accounting firm, my advice would be to first find a job in public accounting. It's important to build your technical background and network with other professionals and other clients before starting your own firm. Many people start in public accounting and then move to their own practice after they build their skills and knowledge. Additionally, working in public accounting will allow to explore different areas of accounting to see which services (tax, audit, consulting, forensic accounting, financial planning, etc.) best suit your interests.
I hope this helps!

Hi Jaleiyah,
I currently work at PwC and have been with the firm for almost 3 years. I still think back to my first day as an intern and remember how hard it was to learn so many new things at once. I was a college athlete, enjoyed my studies, and was excited to start working, but it had been a long time since I had been so helpless. It is hard to start somewhere completely new, so be kind to yourself and give yourself time to learn and grow. With hard work, dedication, and a lot of help from those more experienced than you, you will get there!
Good luck!
