Are there any good colleges for aviation in O'ahu?
I'm interested in air traffic control, and would like a good education without having to leave home. #aviation #oahu #college

Hello Janina,
All Air Traffic Controllers in the US are Federal Aviation Administration employees and are employed by the government. Once hired you would complete all training at the FAA training facility in Oklahoma City.
A specific “aviation college” is not required in order to be hired. If you want to remain in Hawaii for your education you can choose any local university or college to obtain your degree. Aviation colleges, such as Embry Riddle in Arizona, offer a fantastic 4 year degree focused on aviation but at a much higher tuition cost. Many aviation professionals in the industry actually recommend a degree in something other than aviation. I have an aviation degree and quite often wish I had majored in something else, such as Engineering or International Business.
Find a college or university in Hawaii that interests you and get your degree first. A counselor could advise you on choosing an appropriate major. Then pursue your air traffic control plans.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
