Hello Vikram. As Natalie says, it is a long process. First, you need to graduate from college and generally, you need to be near the top of your class. While you do not need to major in a science in college, there are required classes including a year of biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and math. Showing that you have had varied and meaningful experiences (this can include participating in sports, student government, research or a myriad of other activities) can also enhance your chances of being accepted to medical school. In medical school which lasts 4 years, you choose the field you would like to study, such as in your case neurosurgery in your fourth year. You would have to apply to a training program for neurosurgery (which is very competitive so you would have to do well in medical school). The training program then takes seven years after which you can choose to do further training if you want to specialize further. It is a long road but if it is what you really want, I believe it is worth the effort. Good luck!

Hello Vikram,
To become a neurosurgeon, you need to complete pre-med (undergrad) education, medical school, internship, and residency, which takes approximately 14 to 16 years. This is because neurosurgery is a highly complex field of medicine, and as a result, neurosurgeons undergo one of the longest training periods of any medical specialty. I would also recommend that you talk to your parents about a 520 accounts for your education. Look at the schools that you are interested in and perhaps you can talk with one of the students so they can share their tips and tricks. The best of luck!
