I am interested in the fashion and film industry as well as business, how could I make a career out of those three areas?

Hello. I am a junior in high school and I've always been interested in fashion and film. I love both industries but I am planning to major in business in college with a focus on film or fashion. I'm not exactly sure if this a good choice and was wondering if you could give me more feedback.

Thank you. #college #business #fashion #film #help

I think you have a good idea! Fashion and Film are both industries that are difficult to break into, so taking on a business lens will certainly aid you. I will echo Marcela's advice that accounting/finance are probably better focus areas, as they are both very applicable to Fashion and Film. Furthermore, if you aren't able to break into Fashion and Film right away, there is always a need for accounting and finance professionals in other areas.

Hi!

I think that is a great idea. Also, the first few years of college, you should definitely take any intro to film or intro to fashion classes you can! Another great idea is to begin looking for fashion and film internships during vacations or over the summer, so you can figure out where your passions lie!

Thank you comment icon I will look into internships, I wasn't even thinking of that! Thank you Ms. Baptiste! Karen

You could do costumes design and dress the actors for a variety of roles and it is a business and can be big business of you have the creative talent,so you should take a number of art classes as well as fashion and theatre of course and some business put them all together and practice maybe volunteers for community theater to give you an artist example .I did sets and costumes for a director student who opened a theater house after collage. I did about 22 plays it was great . Just an ideal good luck and have fun.

Marcela’s Answer

Hello Karen!

I think you could certainly make a career out of those three areas. You could potentially get a business degree in finance or accounting and look to work in an industry that focuses on fashion and film. When I was in school I knew many individuals who were pursuing a major in accounting and minor in fashion design. Additionally, having a good foundational understanding of business will allow you the flexibility to potentially start your own business in the fashion/film industry.
