Kevin’s Answer

Above most other factors, colleges are looking for passionate, unique, driven individuals. If you're looking to attend a competitive school, yes, there will be a threshold of scores you need to reach. However, you want to convey through your essays and extracurriculars that you're motivated outside of school. Colleges like to see driven kids who are passionate about something in their lives, whether it's drama or debate team or sports or independent research. Show them that you are a determined individual and that will make you stand out.

Matthew’s Answer

Involvement in high school is big. Along with a big focus on your grades. You're going to want to do your best on tests and HWs and you should be able to apply to at least some schools of interest.
