Can you have tattoos and still become an FBI Agent?
My career goal is to become an FBI Agent, but I'm not sure if I can be in the FBI if I have tattoos. Will I just have to cover them up, or am I not allowed to have them all, or is it no big deal as long as they are appropriate? #career #law-enforcement

Hi Meghan,
I don't know what the FBI's policy on tattoos is, but I would suggest visiting your local FBI office or calling/emailing their recruiting center. As Kim says, a lot of LE agencies are accepting of tattoos, but, that also depends on what they depict or what the story is behind the tattoo. The link for the recruiting center is https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/houston/recruiting
Good luck!

Meghan,
While this country is much more accepting of tattoos than it once was, that is not the case everywhere. I do not know the current FBI policy on tattoos. I found a few places that said nothing visible, but they were not official sites. Besides, even what is permissive today can change tomorrow. Why not wait until after you are an agent to get your tattoos, just to play it safe?
