How do I determine what job I want to do if I have a basic understanding of what I want in a job?

I would like to pursue a career in research/medicine. However, I want something that is considered in-patient and out-patient. How can I figure out different paths?

Steward "Tony"’s Answer

Dear Amy

Do The Research!
New Technolgies in Medicine i.e. Med Beds, Red Light, Holistic, Frequency, Western vs Eastern Treatments, Herbal, Chiropractic, etc.

Due to recent medical anomalies which have left a questionable eye on the medical profession as a whole, I would suggest that you continue doing the research of the wide array of medicine practices being offered, even those apart of the traditional medical standards which now find themselves questioned.

I personally would not venture near pharma at this time.
I wish you the best in your research. Mix it up and the facts will appear. Do nothing and you can lead astray.

Thank you comment icon Hey Tony, can you say more on why you would stay away from pharma? Gurpreet Lally, Admin
Thank you comment icon Because of lawsuits now riddling the industry which not only hold manufacturers responsible but also its employees who have been administering certain protocols. A wait & see attitude is the best advice I can give. "I was just doing my job" will no longer be an out for many. Again one must do the research to understand what is transpiring in certain areas of business. My goal is to protect these kids and have them think. Steward "Tony" Pacheco

Pamela’s Answer

Amy,
Women’s Health/OBGYN is an example of a challenging but exciting field of medicine that allows you to choose from many different paths: inpatient care, outpatient care, surgery, delivering babies, seeing patients in the office, teaching, doing research, administration/leadership in your department, etc. You can do one thing or many things. You can start out focusing on one aspect of the field then move into another if it suits you. Many medical specialties allow for this but you have to be interested in direct patient care. If you’re not sure if that’s right for you, you can do research as an undergrad and see if that suits you better.
Hope this was helpful!
Pam
