What should I base the decision of my major on?
I am a sophomore at Sumner Academy. I tend to be indecisive a lot and do not really know what I want to do with my life #college

In addition to the awesome guidance provided in the previous answer, I would add that another element that can help in decision making is once you have gotten a sense of what you like to do and the possible skill sets you either have or can gain, talk to some people that are in the field that you are considering. Nothing like getting first hand knowledge from people who are either working in the field or have in the past. Oftentimes, these conversations can shed light on the difference between what you read about a job/career and the real-world, practical tasks that a person has to do in a certain type of job/career.
I offer too that there is nothing that binds your career, which I consider a journey, to your decided major in college. Many, many successful career folks completed their degree(s) in areas that are vastly different from where they found their professional joy.
Hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck to you!

Terrence,
Simple enough, you should base your decision on a major on your values, interests and skills. There are assessments out there to help you expand your options in majors. The Self-Directed Search is one of these assessments, you can look into it more online, it does cost $9.95, but is very informative and like I said, expands your options!
There are more assessments out there too! Hope that helps get you started. Ask yourself: "What am I good at, what do I like to do, what do I value?" (I know they are deep and tough questions) Good luck!
