Def. a lot to look into, it's best to talk to those in the the field as Erinn mentioned (ex: Zoology, Marine Biology, Zooarchaeology, Anthropology (how humans evolved from Animals), Equine, Vets, etc). Don't place a lot of pressure on what major as Aubrey mentioned. I do recommend get a part time job related to vets, aquarium, zoo, museum and start learning your true interest that way. Lastly, know your strengths and interests and how you can contribute value in that field. Recognize, that you can also love math and animals, and be an accountant in the animal industry for example or a Vet that does statistical research, so keep it open until something hooks you.

Hi Lexi. If you aren't sure about your major, don't stress too much about it, and know that your degree doesn't necessarily peg you to a specific career path. If you don't feel as though being a vet is the right path for you, start with considering majors that could allow you to work in a field where you will be able to make a positive impact on animals. You could consider studying biology or zoology, and eventually work in a zoo. You could also consider majoring in environmental science, as that will often lead to paths for internships at Nature Centers or other preservation places. You could also consider the indirect route, and major in public policy, which you could later focus on animal rights. Lots of options!!
