Is it necessary to make connections with those around you to market yourself, or could you do it entirely online with little to no interaction in your real life?
This is more centered to the people around you & the people online, what would be the best way to see good reception?

Establishing meaningful relationships with those around you can significantly boost your personal branding. Your physical network can serve as a powerful tool to expand your influence both online and offline. As you strive to enhance your digital footprint, you can also discover valuable opportunities to forge connections in the real world, further promoting your personal brand. Participating in or attending live events related to your passions can be an effective way to market yourself face-to-face and amplify your brand's growth.

Hi,
Thanks for a great question. As we are now more familiar with the word "hybrid" post pandemic, it's important to adopt a hybrid model too when it comes to meeting new people and expand your network.
-Meeting people face-to-face is always a priority whenever can. The vibe, the non-verbal communications underlying, are hard to capture when people chat via the screen. It's also relatively easy to ask follow-up questions. Studies also show that the "conversion rate" of any transactions, be it a business, a job opportunity, a connection of sort, is much higher among a smaller group you are loosely connected with compared with in a larger, unattached group. So it's crucial to smartly leverage your existing networks.
-Having said that, the wide use of online meetings make advertising yourself, connecting with other people beyond your circle (but sharing same interests/ professional backgrounds) so much more helpful. So make good use of public channels like social media channels, esp. LinkedIn if you want your professional profile to elevate. Also, if you meet someone online and you are in the same city, ask the person out for a cofee chat-that's the true activation of going 'hybrid'.
I've been using this strategy for years and it's been treating me well. Really hope it helps!

Hi Emmanuel, great question.
I think it is so important to invest in and build relationships with people around you, in person and also online. I think sometimes it is easier to build connections with people you meet in person but I have had experience where I’ve connected with people on social media and ended up meeting them in person and established a network of experts that I learn from and feel part of a community. Building your personal and professional brand is important in helping you connect with people, deepen relationships, career progression and even business opportunities. One of my peers once said “it’s not about who you know, it’s about who knows you” and that really stuck with me. Think about what your are or want to be known for and build out your viability plan.
Hope this helps!

An online connection with people is important but I wouldn't say that it necessarily replaces the importance of a face-to-face interaction. In both cases, your brand and commitment to building relationships with others is what will dictate how strong the connection will be. Also, remember that quality is better than quantity. Make sure you are seeking thoughtful and meaningful connections that will continue to grow.

Hello Emmanuel,
Establishing connections is a fraction of accomplishing your ultimate goals. Building, fostering and maintaining the relationship created with your connections is where the opportunity arises to market yourself. When establishing these connections it's best to market yourself with like-mission, like-minded and similar goals oriented peers. In person marketing of yourself far outweighs the nonpersonal platform the internet provides.
Word of mouth is considered the strongest form of communication.

Don't hesitate to seek guidance, gain insights about their roles, and simultaneously lend a helping hand to others. Hi Emmanuel.
In this industry especially, connections are everything. While I think you can establish meaningful connections with industry professional online, connecting with people face-to-face is key. While it can be intimidating, you can start establishing these kind of connections at events like career fairs or industry-related panels.
Another way you can do this online is by researching companies you're interested in and reaching out to the person who works in the position you're most interested in. You can message them on LinkedIn and request an informational interview. You can learn about their job and the company and ask for any advice they may have for students. Not only are you learning more about the industry, you're also expanding your network and getting your name out there.
Hope this helps!

Hello! Having networks are so important so it's great that you are already looking at it. I think you can have a mix of people in all locations in your network. Having a network you can interact with in person is valuable because it gives you the opportunity to practice communication skillsets in person. But a virtual network also works because you can interact with people from all over the world. The downside to virtual is that it's easier to "forget" they are there.
What is important to remember is that regardless of where those in your network are located (close by or virtual), stay in contact with them. A network doesn't do you any good if it's dormant.
Best of luck!

Hello Emmanuel! You absolutely have the power to build relationships and promote yourself on social media, even without any real-life interactions. Countless influencers have launched their careers on social media platforms, gaining immense popularity. This could pave the way for expanding your network, and you might even start receiving exclusive invitations to events. Just think about it. By attending events that align with your interests, you can establish a wealth of personal connections. My husband, who works at a hotel in NYC, encounters numerous influencers. There's a world of incredible opportunities waiting for you, especially given your knack for networking on social media. Wishing you all the best!
