If I'm a computer scientist can I still go to law school?
I really want to be a person who advocates for marginalized groups and I've heard one of the best ways to do that is to be a public defender but I am already on track to do my undergrad in computer science. What should I do?

The combo of the two can put you in a unique position to enter public advocacy or assist lawmakers with policy-making. Furthermore, there's a shortage of legislators and business leaders who are "tech savvy" and hence lawyers who can help are greatly valued, e.g., for performing "due diligence" in assessing mergers and acquisitions, protecting intellectual property (IP), and encouraging privacy and digital rights protection. For an example of public advocacy, visit the Electronic Frontier Foundation's website, they have at least a dozen tech-savvy lawyers who are strong advocates protecting free speech, open access to public information, net neutrality, transparency of corporate principles, privacy policies, etc. Furthermore, they have some internship offerings periodically, too. So, in short, it's a great time to be a tech-savvy lawyer! :-D
