Can I still become a Spanish teacher if I have a non-education Spanish degree in addition to a Music Education degree?
I want to know if I can lessen my course load. If I can use the education part of my Bachelors of Music and apply it to my Spanish degree, then that would do that. #foreign-languages #education #music-education #spanishmajor #spanish-education #dualmajor

Check with your academic adviser, they can tell you what credit hours transfer. Some states also allow individuals with a bachelor's degree to take an accelerated education class to become certified teachers, so that could be an option for you as well. You'll never know unless you ask, so go ahead and check with your adviser for your major, they can definitely help!

Hi Bradley! Former teacher here. In addition to talking with your academic adviser, you may also want to look up the licensure requirements for the state where you would like to work. Some states specify particular courses of study to get a license, while others allow for a variety of paths to licensure. Also keep in mind that a license is a requirement for a public teaching position, but there is still the option to teach at private schools or substitute teach. These positions may provide a temporary "gap" position if you need some time beyond your undergraduate degree to meet licensure requirements.
