To become a pre-operative theatre technologist, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, you may pursue a certificate or diploma program in surgical technology. These programs provide training in areas such as surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient care. Some employers may also require certification, which can be obtained through organizations like the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. It's always a good idea to research specific educational requirements and certifications in your area for accurate information. it varies from country to country.

Hello, Wesley !

The qualifications to obtain employment as a Perioperative theatre technologist would be an Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or vocational Certification in Surgical Technology.

I would advise that you register at the employment websites Indeed, Linked In and Simply Hired and set notifications for this position so that you can be assured of what the qualifications would be in the local area that you live. Some employers do want two years of working experience in a surgical field in addition to the certification. My advice would be to visit your local hospital to obtain exact details for your town, county or country and you can seek this information first by visiting the Human Resources Department at the hospital.

The position entails maintaining equipment, assisting the surgeon during surgery, cleaning the operating room before and after a surgery, restocking supplies, steam sterilization of equipment and instruments, routine inspection of instruments and equipment, and cleaning and disinfecting endoscopes and whatever the employer needs the person to do within the job duties. So it may be a good idea to go to all the hospitals nearby you and visit their Human Resource Departments, not just one hospital. By doing this and reading the job descriptions of employment notices, you will get a good idea of what training and experience you will need.

I hope that this was helpful and I wish you all the best in exploring this wonderful career choice !
