I don't understand how the technology an aerospace engineer makes in their planes or spaceships effects the everyday person.

Hi Morgan. There are some really interesting applications out there for aeronautical technology. It's not just flying people from city to city. The missile defense agency uses surveillance aircraft to help protect us from attack. Many types of specialized aircraft are used in aerial firefighting. Medevac and news helicopters have huge impacts on people's lives, even helping save some.

When it comes to the military, innovation is key to maintaining a strong defense. The comfort and liberty we experience daily often owe a lot to the hardworking engineers scattered across the country, tirelessly supporting our military.
The United States Space Force, now a separate branch of the armed forces, has gained quite a bit of traction. This is largely due to the public's awareness that if the government hadn't created this sector, private investors would have taken the lead in the race to Mars.
