What Undergrad Degree should I declare for a career in Optometry?
I am a senior and applying for college. I do not want to waste time declaring a degree that will not aid in my application to Optometry school. #optometry

You can major in anything as long as you meet the prerequisites required by the optometry schools you wish to apply. The prereq's can be found on each optometry's schools websites. Generally the courses needed are about the same with one or two classes that change between each school. Most people, including myself, majored in Bioscience, which is the most helpful. However, I know people who have majored in business, chemistry, physics and psychology.

Hi Markey,
What Cindy said above is absolutely correct. I have friends that are Optometrist and some of them met the pre-requisite requirements while also obtaining a degree that they enjoyed. One friend of mine majored in business and now runs his own Optometry business.
