I'm thinking of joining the Air Force academy but if I don't get accepted I need a backup plan in the form of college majors.

Rafael’s Answer

If you're considering a backup plan for becoming a commercial pilot, some degree options to consider are Aviation/Aerospace Management, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Technology/Aviation Science, or Air Traffic Control. These degrees can provide knowledge and skills relevant to the aviation industry. However, keep in mind that flight training and certifications are crucial for becoming a pilot, so make sure to pursue those as well. Remember, the sky's the limit!

Joseph’s Answer

Actually, majority of pilots are from Military retires. I would suggest study of avionics and related subjects in an academic institution. This educates you in the field of study. Afterwards check for Flying schools you may be able to do both at same time.

Greg’s Answer

A college degree is no longer required to get a job as an airline pilot, although it may help. You can really get a degree in anything, but many pilots get aviation degrees and earn their pilot certificates through a school. A degree in something else may be useful for when the airline industry is inevitably struggling. If you get a degree in something else, you will still need to get your pilot certification.
