If you are interested in stocks, I would recommend majoring in either finance, accounting, economics, or even math or computer science. These majors will give you the math/financial experience that you need when applying for these positions. To trade you have to be good at calculating numbers and interest for money.

It depends on what you want to work at and what do you want to do?
If you want to work at one of the big financial institutions, a background in Finance, Math or Computer Engineering will definitely help. Majors in economics, business, statistics or similar fields are acceptable too
But what is going to stand out is the project that you were involved with that helped with predicting the market, or XYZ in the financial market as that will open's the recruiter's eyes as to the potential in hiring you. Also use that to get an internship at the big companies.
Focus on a financial project to stand out
Have good knowledge and passion in finance/statistics

I assume you are asking about a career in stock trading, analysis, and investing and not about market manipulation as the latter is illegal. I was an economics major and went directly from college into the brokerage world. I would say that there were people with a good variety of majors coming in when I did, but most were focused on some variation of Finance or Economics. Moving into the brokerage world especially careers that involve the stock market, your test taking and studying aren't done when you leave school. There are numerous licenses you can/should obtain depending on what specific area you are interested in. You can check out FINRA's site for the qualification exams that they offer. In addition, certifications such as a CFA are highly sought after if you are looking to get into the analysis side of the market.
