How do I get an internship with a career where confidentiality is key?

I want to see what its like in the daily life of a Medical Social Worker, but I understand that the privacy is important from patient to professional, and personally, I would not want to put my business out there to someone who is barely learning the ropes.

Thank you comment icon Typically your program of study in Social Work will have an internship requirement imbedded in the curriculum. You will be able to request the field you desire to pursue. You can ultimately work under a medical social worker and learn on the field what it is like. However if you would like to venture into the role before enrolling into a program, it does get tricky. Depending on your degree or credentials you could work or volunteer in the medical field in another role and potentially seek advice from a medical social worker on site. But to get a good idea would be through school/training in a social work internship. Kristine Ramirez, MSW, LCSW
