Are there any affordable baptist nursing colleges that anyone would recommend?
I'm a junior in high school, so I've been thinking about what career choice I should make. I've been leaning more towards becoming a nurse and hopefully working at the hospital close to my home. I am completely confused on what college has the best teachers who could help me if I may be struggling in a certain subject. Also, for all of the nurses out there... Are you happy that you became one? Thank you! #nursing #nursing-education #nursing-schools

Hi Bethany. You might look into Rochester College in Rochester Hills, Michigan. It is a private college that is affiliated with the Church of Christ. I am Baptist but did not feel uncomfortable there - the class content contains a Christian perspective and students are challenged to live a Christ-centered life. The professors are very helpful and excellent teachers.
Your question left me with the assumption that you are Baptist - while it is important to retain your core values and strengthen them by living them, you will be working with a diverse population as a nurse. It will be important for you to develop an understanding of other cultures and belief systems in order to understand the patient (his needs and fears). It helps you deliver better care because you will see him as a person not a "diagnosis". I love nursing -never regretted becoming one but wished I would tried psychiatric nursing earlier in my career because I love working with these patients the most.

I believe that Pensacola Christian College in Florida has a nursing program. I'm not sure if it is Baptist or not, but it is definitely conservative Christian. Houston Baptist University in Texas also has a nursing program. They tend to give financial aid and scholarships to those who qualify.
