What are the biggest problems civil engineers will have to face in the next 10 years.

I am interested in looking into the future to help solve problems for the US with civil engineering projects. #civil-engineering

Hey! As a current college student, these are the kinds of questions our professors ask us to think on, because as future engineers we'll be solving these questions. Worldwide, one of the best places for goals is from the UN (here's the link: http://www.undp.org/content/undp/en/home/sustainable-development-goals.html). Some of them are really broad, others don't apply to civil engineering, but it's a good place to start.

I would also encourage you to check out American Society for Civil Engineers and Engineers Without Borders, both of which are great organizations and do first-hand work with solving problems and encouraging college students.

Elizabeth recommends the following next steps:

Check out Sustainable Development Goals from the UN http://www.undp.org/content/undp/en/home/sustainable-development-goals.html
Check out ASCE's goals (a bit more US based) http://www.asce.org/our_initiatives/
Check out EWB's goals (international) https://www.ewb-usa.org/envision-2020-ewb-usas-new-strategic-plan/

Hi Spencer,
Due to competition, margins are tighter. A tight profit margin usually leads to reduced spending and may be the cause of management problems or outside problems. Whatever the case, a tight profit margin indicates that a business is likely keeping a watchful eye over its finances.
