You will need to focus on stress and time management. In order to manage stress you have to manage your time wisely. You have to set a routine for yourself and stick to it for the most part. Once you get into the groove of a routine it will be much easier for you to manage your time and have enough time for everything you need to do (including relaxing). Make yourself to-do lists on a weekly basis, use Google calendar or a planner to keep track of events, deadlines, and due dates. In addition to setting a routine and sticking to it, plan out relaxing activities into your day. Or set aside a time, after everything is done for the day, that you can have "me" time. I have also personally found it essential to not only find time for myself but also make use of that time in a way that is best for me and my holistic wellness. I have found the HeadSpace app to be an essential tool in helping me relax and generally feel more relaxed throughout the day, Guided meditation, even if you have a busy schedule, will make you feel more at ease and relaxed throughout the day as a whole (not just when you have the time to relax and focus on that "me" time).

As a Financial Engineer, you will likely go into Investment Banking or a similar kind of job. All these jobs are not known for optimal Work/Life Balances, but at the same time, the financial aspect tends to overcome this. As others said, it definitely depends on the company, but even if you find a company that is trying to promote WLB you are working a lot of hours, at at least more than 40/week. There are some financial software companies out there that need Financial Engineers, and there you might have a better WLB. It depends on the direction you chose with your degree.

What it probably comes down to is this:
1) Do you want to have a family with kids, live in a nice house in a prosperous neighborhood, and not worry about sending your kids to Ivy League Universities, or
2) Do you want to see your kids growing up.

A job like this would tend to lean towards more working hours than average. That being said worklife balance depends highly on the company you work for and your immediate boss. Some companies may promote a great worklife balance atmosphere while other may have a culture of working long hours. In the end doing research can help you find what kind of company you would prefer to work for.
