Fred’s Answer

First you need an undergraduate degree, which usually takes four years.
Dental school is another four years.

Then, depending on what (if any) specialization (pediatrics, orthodontics, oral surgery), you may need additional time as a resident. That would be anywhere from another one to six years.

Karen’s Answer

You would go to college for a bachelor’s degree, apply for dental school, and if accepted you will have another 4 years. If you choose to specialize in one area, you will add 2-3 years more. So, a minimum of 8 years to be a General Dentist.

Andrey’s Answer

Bachelors degree is a must for pre-dental 3-4 years there. Dental school is 4 years and specialty 1-2 depending on your specialty. I would expect somewhere between 8-10 years
