Should I stay at a small college then transfer to a bigger one?

I hear I'm still going to have to take core classes no matter where I go, but I'm thinking I could stay closer to home and save some money, but then junior year transfer to a university where at that point I might know specifically what I want to do. Thoughts?

If you like the small class size and individual attention, then stay. You won't get that at a big place. If you feel limited by course offerings or facilities, consider transferring.

Hi Kathryn!
There are many pluses to staying at home/closer to home during the first 2 years. Primarily, you may be able to save money on tuition, as well as room and board. You could also work part-time and save some money. I think it is very important to do a little research on the availability of transfer options. Oftentimes, colleges may not accept all of your transfer credits. I do not know the specifics within your state, but in DE, our local community college has set transfer agreements with our local state universities and colleges. I wouldn’t want you to suffer loss of earned credits during the transfer process. It’s always best to inquire prior to making a commitment.
I wish you the very best, and remember: Do what is best for Kathryn!
