Agreed with Tasha - there is currently huge demand in the marketplace for software development and all other types of computer science / engineering support (like artifical intelligence, robotics, etc). Really any type of engineering would give you the opportunity to have an impact on the world! We’re focused on solving the worlds problems and bringing things from the R&D labs into full production to provide to the consumer.

I highly recommend doing a bit of research on what types of areas interest you, and then what all your options may be for engineering. Your best bet would be to find some area that interests you (aerospace, biomechanics, Electrical and computer systems?) and then go towards that. One other beauty of engineering is that the first two years in university typically look fairly similar, so you have some time to explore via a few of the basic engineering classes before you have to commit to a degree. Even if you change your mind partway, you will not set yourself back very far, if at all, to switch to another engineering focus.

Lori recommends the following next steps:

Research different types of engineering / “day in the life of...”

Tasha’s Answer

The best way to do this would be in the software development world...the startup industry is booming and computer programmers are developing tools and software that are changing the world. However, engineering is a large field...think about where you interests lie and you can create something in virtually any field.
