Is first semester too early to start joining clubs and student organizatons?

I am very excited about getting involved on campus, but I am a little worried about becoming overwhelmed. I know that I will need to time to adjust to life away from home, but I do not want to have too much on my plate. #getinvolved

Hi Tarah - great question. Being a mom of a sophomore in college and a senior in high school, I can confidently say that my shy college daughter would totally vote for being as active with clubs and student organizations as possible right off the bat. I agree with that as it is everyone's fresh start and you all would be in the same boat therefore being involved and engaged early on would be less intimidating than later. Also as the academics get harder, freshman year is the time to explore freely without the stress that comes with being too entwined in course work as an upper class man. Good luck with everything.
