Do you have any advice on positivity skills to be a nurse?
I know nursing is a very stressful job, but how do you keep a positive attitude throughout the day?

Hello! I currently work in hospice and have been in hospice and nonprofit work for 8 years, and two things have helped me stay positive each day, even during difficult or emotionally draining situations:
1. Focus on how you are helping your patients. Sometimes the work environment can get stressful or negative, especially if many of your coworkers or bosses are also stressed and tired. Remembering why your work is important to each individual can help keep the negativity away.
2. Have hobbies, friends, and decompression time outside of work. Like, completely unrelated to work and do your best to have a strong boundary between the two. For example, I love ballroom dancing, and lessons and competitions help me stay active and turn my brain off from thinking about anything that has happened with my patients and families.

Positivity, I believe, is a radiant energy that springs from within us and is cultivated over the course of our lives. It's a mindset, a perspective that can be nurtured and honed with practice. Instead of dwelling on the negatives, we can reshape them into positives. For instance, cancer is undeniably a tough battle, no matter how you view it. However, the silver lining is the presence of hope and the availability of care. It's all about perspective - seeing the glass as half full (you already have something, and there's room for more) rather than half empty (you're left with only half, and soon it could be gone). Let's focus on the positives and keep our spirits high!
