What's the hardest and best part about being a physical therapist?

Since I was 13 I knew I wanted to be a physical therapist. I'm just curious how others got in that field. #doyouloveyourjob #medicalfield #physical-therapy

Thank you comment icon The hardest part is probably figuring out how to help and do what is best for your patient. Shannon
Thank you comment icon Probably, it will be to apply a plan of care that it's efficient and keeping patients motivated about completing their therapies and home exercises (if apply) Jon Gabriel Rodriguez

Tina’s Answer

I am a pediatric physical therapist and I love my job! How many people do you know that get to play all day and get paid? Something I love about my job is watching children improve and get better. I enjoy the relationships that I make with the families too. Something hard about my job is time management and all the documentation that is required. Some children have behavior issues, like autism and that can make the job very challenging and frustrating sometimes.

Christine’s Answer

I love my job as a physical therapist! The hardest part is having enough time and resources do provide all that I want to for my patients. I often do not have enough time for them or their insurance denies further treatment. The best part is the amount of one on one time I get to spend with my patients. I get to know them and their families and watch them improve. It is very rewarding to know I am making a difference in their lives.

Christine recommends the following next steps:

Volunteer at a physical therapy clinic and other settings to learn more about the different types of therapy
Research physical therapy schools and programs to find one that would be a good fit for you
