Hi, Charlene, what an interesting question! I think being inspiring could be very important in just about any profesion. But here are examples in a pediatrician path:
- In medical school, you could inspire other students to persevere through difficult classes and exams and redouble their efforts to master the content. This could increase the number of people who graduate, expanding the pool of much-needed doctors. Plus, the people in your class who go into pediatrics will be better prepared.
- Showing leadership through inspiration, you could stand out to your professors. This could lead to better recommendations for residencies.
- Being inspiring could be important to other medical professionals you work with, such as nurses, who often are overworked. They could be inspired to deliver better patient care. This would lead to better outcomes, such as more prevention of illness and/or faster recoveries.
- You could inspire other pediatricians in your practice or hospital to keep current on medical advancement or get involved in trials, hopefully improving care for patients.
- Last, but not least, being inspiring could help your patients. If you have to deliver bad news, you could inspire them to seek treatment, even if it will be lengthy or possibly painful. Or, if they are in the middle of difficult treatment, you could help them picture what conquering the medical issue would be like. This could inspire them to complete treatment, even if it takes a lot of time and is uncomfortable.
Good luck!

Hi Charlene , your question about being an inspiration and how this will help on your path to be a pediatrician is quite a question for a young lady such as yourself. Thomas Jefferson said, if you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act. Action will define you. And a woman named Bette Davis said the key to life is accepting challenges. Once someone stops doing this he or she is dead. I personally found out about myself is that I,persevere no matter what the circumstances are how many failed attempts that I push through the tough times and challenges of life. My my work ethic was impeccable as a paramedic. My actions at work rendering care for sick and injured inspired my peers and co-workers. Those same peers are now nurses, physician assistants, and a trauma surgeon at our local level one hospital. So young lady you go out there and inspire your peers and friends and I will see you when You are a pediatrician!
