I recommend you to first understand if you are really interested in Neuroscience research. To do so, approach your local institutions (academic research institutions) and look for opportunities for internship in a neuroscience research laboratory. This will help you understand what being a neuroscience researcher entails. You can also read scientific journals that publish latest neuroscience research to understand what are the recent findings in the field. Here are some examples of top neuroscience journals:

Brandy E.’s Answer

The first step is knowing if you are interested in the topic. There are tons of blogs and other easily available content that discusses current research so you can decide if you are actually interested in it. For example: http://www.sciencemag.org

https://www.popsci.com/blog-network

https://www.nature.com/news

Brandy E. recommends the following next steps:

You can go a step further to solidify your interest by reaching out to local researchers and requesting to volunteer in their lab. This way you can get an idea of what it means to do that research on a day to day basis.
Finally, you can learn about what types of research is currently going on to learn what sort of questions still need to be answered. Don't worry, when it comes to the brain, we still have a lot more to learn.
