Some times your career ends up being the least you expect. At times we try so hard to figure out what we want to do when we are young but end up turning ‘just a job’ into your forever career. The moral is, don’t stress yourself trying to figure out life and career when your young, everything will fall into place if you put effort into your goals.
Siddhant’s Answer
1. What you love doing - you should love your job because you would be doing it everyday for the foreseeable future.
2. What you can earn doing - same reason as above, you are in it for the long haul, you need to earn enough to sustain yourself!
3. What you are good at - you should be skilled at what you do enough to teach others, and always striving for excellence, and always ready to put in the effort.
4. What the world needs - there should be a value in your career which the world needs and appreciates. There are times when we feel we aren't making a difference, but the thought of your job should remind you of the impact/happiness you bring to people.

Hi Samira.
This is an excellent question. A career is what you will love to do every day versus a job which is something you just do because it is what you have to do. When you choose a career, you have to assess yourself. You must consider what are your interests, what are you most passionate about and what do you want for your future. Make a list of the careers you are interested in and learn of them as much as possible. You can also take Career Assessment tests which are available for free online. You should also research specific career outlooks on the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics website. Searching a specific career and what the future looks like for that career will be important. Remember you will be stuck with that choice for years and you sure don't want to regret wasting many years of your life on something that was not fit for you. Don't ignore you intuition and what you feel is best for you. It is easy to fall into our parent's wishes and then realize, this is not what you wanted to do with your life. Keep in mind, you can choose a career later on in life but from experience and the challenges I have had to overcome, I encourage you to choose as early as possible. The earlier you do choose, your life will be much better.

This question is so important! The first thing is to understand what you enjoy doing. Everyone will tell you that “if you do something you enjoy, you will never work a day in your life.” It’s great advice, but always find what you are passionate about in any career you look in to. If you value technology, there are tons of options out there. More focused on helping others? Maybe teaching is the way to go. Really it goes to your own personal interests and how you choose to impact your world. You will do great, and whatever you decide to do, just remain energetic, passionate, and have fun every day.

I chose my career based on my passion. Technology is constantly evolving so there is always something new to learn. I also love working with people. Being in wireless you are able to walk across people from all walks of life. If you find a career that toh love and not just the financial side then you will never “work”a day in your life. Find your passion and your career will follow

I would definitely say that as a start you should find what you are most passionate about in life.
Think about the things you like to do most, your dreams, your areas of expertise, the subjects in school that you excelled in...
You can then start with a list of jobs you are interested in.
You can define your wealth goals.
You can do some internships, conduct few interviews with people which will help you narrow down your choices.
