How can you tell when ou know what career or job you want to pursue for the rest of your life?

I'm asking because I am currently undecided about my major in college and ultimately, what career I want to pursue as well. #clueless

Hi Casson, I would ask that you explore yourself further, figure out what things you like along with your personality and who you are. Look into tests like Myers Briggs personality test, This will help you learn about yourself and may find some surprises.

Patty’s Answer

There isn’t a secret formula to figuring out what career you want. Think of careers as a buffet, you have lots of options and you don't have to choose one forever, unless you want to. If you choose one and you don't like, pick another one. It is okay to find out what you don't want to do. There is no amount of research that can better prepare you then actually experiencing the career, so it is best not to worry if you will choose the wrong major or career. Picking a major will not permanently define your career options and I suggest you start with something you really want to do. I am currently on my fifth career, and I have a few more ideas of what I might want to do in the future.
