There is a lot of interconnected devices that are being introduced to the market daily, what is the future of such IoT devices? And, do you think there is a saturation point for this industry?

The reason I am asking is that the #technology gets saturated by the day and is it able to support all these new innovations.

Right now I don't believe a saturation point can be established. IoT tech is just now starting to get teaching. We have only scratched the surface of the possibilities. Imagine full cities running on IoT from water pressure gauge in the sewer to traffic lights to parking meters running with IoT. All of that is already happening right now. Like I said IoT tech is only beging and I'm supper excited to see it develop

Hello Tamseel. I agree with both Drew and Anchalee. I don't see any saturation point in sight nor do I think there will be one anytime soon. As the 5G networks start to launch this year you will see that the possibilities for IoT with 5G speeds and latency are somewhat endless. 5G is going to completely change the way we all look at wireless and it will open up lots of opportunities and solutions to problems.

Drew’s Answer

I don't think we're anywhere close to a saturation point for IoT devices. The market is somewhat nascent so plenty of room for growth in my opinion. IoT will become more and more integrated into society as time passes. Lots of potential for positively impacting society.

Richard’s Answer

I agree with drew. I think we are far from saturation for this industry we are just beginning. The computing power in your cell phone is more powerful than the computers that I started working on. There is no end in sight as there will be new and innovative uses for technology to solve every day problems and make life better for us. Think of what your life would be without your cell phone.

One of the challenges I often ponder is does the technology look for a problem or is technology solving a problem. Thoughts?

Anchalee’s Answer

Hi Tamseel, I do not think we are at a saturation point for IoT devices. This market has become very popular with our well known use cases for IoT such as telematics, sensors, security modules and smart cities/grid. Everyday we are seeing new and innovative ways that IoT can have an impact on.

I was just speaking to a client of mine who owns gyms throughout the area and all the workout equipment they purchase (treadmills, ellipticals, weight machines, etc) now come with a cellular module that tests for diagnostics and if anything is wrong, it will immediately alert a technician to come out for repair. There's a lot more in the consumer space as well to be done with IoT
