is it common for you to change your major?

When I first started college, I went to become an engineer. But near the end of my first semester, I think I want to become a STEM teacher instead. Is it normal to question the major you thought you wanted, and change to a new major instead? #Majors

I think this might have been more common before colleges/universities requiring you to declare your major prior to starting. When I started college thinking I wanted to pursue veterinary medicine but quickly realized that I was actually more interested in the social sciences so I pivoted. I would try to take a wide variety of classes in your first couple of semesters you might find something that you are passionate about that you never even thought of or knew existed.

There are some majors that are hard to switch into if you think you might want to do e.g. engineering and some STEM. If you think you might want to do that make sure to take some of the basics early in those first few semesters.
