How much time and effort does it take to become a labor and delivery nurse, and is it mentally and physically exauhsting ? my favorite class is psychology so I enjoy stuff like that.
I would like to know how many people are successful as being a labor and delivery nurse. I would also like to know how hard it is to pass the classes required for the major.

Excellent query, but regrettably, there are no universal solutions. You must earn your degree and acquire your license, with the rest being a day-to-day learning process. The rhythm of this field can fluctuate from tranquility to what a novice might perceive as utter pandemonium during your shift. It's crucial to be incredibly adaptable in this profession. Bear in mind that some individuals in labor may give birth the moment they arrive in that wing, while others might spend the majority of the day with you. Due to the absence of set standards, like scheduled patient visits, you must be prepared to transition from monotony to intense physical and emotional situations at a moment's notice. There will be instances when you finish your shift feeling energized enough for a gym session, or simply yearning for some personal downtime or sleep. For the right individual, these are the challenges they crave and the specialty they feel destined to pursue. Psychology can provide assistance, but remember, these are laboring patients and highly anxious loved ones or friends. Therefore, psychology can only go so far, as not everything is logical when you're uncomfortable or facing an unfamiliar experience.

I am glad you love psychology but Labor and delivery is another different beast. Any one can be a successful labor and delivery nurse. Once you graduate high school, apply for a nursing program, pass the program, take the national exam (NCLEX), then apply for a job. You will be given extensive training to become a labor and delivery nurse. Yes it can become stressful, but it is very rewarding.
Thank you, Lou.!
