Scott’s Answer

Hello Hampton! I am an internist (a general medical doctor for adults) so I understand the process. In general, after graduating HS it takes 4 years of college to get a bachelor's degree, followed by 4 years of medical school and then at least 4 years of post-medical school training to become a dermatologist. Additional training would be necessary if you decide to specialize even further. There are no high school classes that will specifically be beneficial to becoming a dermatologist but know it is important to take classes that will enable you to go to college. I suggest you talk to a guidance counselor in your school if one is available.
My own personal opinion is that it is very important to explore different subjects and to get many varied experiences as you work towards your goal of becoming a dermatologist. You may be surprised to find yourself passionate about some other pursuits.
Good luck!

Dr. Nastasia’s Answer

Biology, chemistry, physics. All mandatory where I studied to enter medicine then from there pursue further studies in Dermatology. Don't sweat it though, any science based subject should be good to get into medical school then press on from there. Best wishes
