Madelyn,
I wish I knew how important it is to go see one’s advisors and professors during office hours. They are a rich source of guidance and a source for future recommendations. Get to know them and let them get to know you well!

Hi Madelyn H. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.
I wish I had known the importance of a good study group. I didn't find this out until my second year of college. My experience is that a good study group is collaborative and can improve your study habits. Members of a good study group can bring/share helpful study tips and different members can bring different input on what is being studied, including different ways to process the information that is important to doing well in the class.
Hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck to you!

Get involved as much as you can. Networking is valuable and your college experience as a whole is essential. In fact, it will fly by faster than you even know it. Participate in a club, join greek life, volunteer at events, invest time with colleagues, or even make dreams come true with your roommates. Have fun but remember to grow and flourish.
Another thing I did, but wish I would have done more of - do not be afraid to reach out to your professors for any reason at all. No question is a stupid question. Your professors will feel more at use if you utilize them and show that your time is just as important as there. Professors realize when you participate, they notice when you reach out for clarification, and they appreciate any form of effort.

As a freshman, I definitely wish I would've put myself out there a little bit more, and joined clubs that I was interested in, even if I didn't have a buddy to go with me. Also, I wish I would've realized that it's totally normal to take a while to find your footing in college.
As far as academics go, don't be afraid to seek out tutoring or assistance from your professor if you're struggling! That's what they're there for.
Good luck :)
