Jerome’s Answer

I would ask those who know you (parents, friends, teachers, etc) what they think you'd be good at. From there, you can explore the jobs and see if something sparks your interest. You can also volunteer with local non-profit which will love your help and actually train you to support them.

May feel like you need to have it all figured out right now, but you have time. Explore and enjoy the journey :)

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question. Many students have similar question. Firstly, you need to out what careers you have interest.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc.
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc.
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4.. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Sarah’s Answer

Start by creating a list of activities you enjoy and those you don't. Take a career quiz that you can easily find on Google. Visualize the lifestyle you aspire to in the future. Watch 'day in a life' videos of various professions on platforms like Youtube or TikTok that align with your interest. After this, refine your list, selecting between 3 to 5 areas of interest for deeper exploration. It's perfectly fine to have multiple career goals. By engaging in this self-exploratory exercise, you'll gain a better understanding of yourself and identify a career path that truly aligns with your interests. After thorough research, choose one path and focus your efforts on it.

James Constantine’s Answer

Hello Praise,

Understanding Yourself

To decide on a career path when you are feeling confused, it is essential to start by understanding yourself better. Consider your interests, values, skills, and personality traits. Reflect on what activities make you feel fulfilled and energized. Ask yourself questions like:

What subjects or topics do I enjoy learning about?
How do I like to spend my free time?
Do I prefer working with people or independently?
What skills do I excel at and enjoy using?

Research Career Options

Once you have a better understanding of yourself, research different career options that align with your interests and skills. Explore various industries, job roles, and potential career paths. Look into the educational requirements, job outlook, salary potential, and growth opportunities for each option. Consider conducting informational interviews with professionals in fields you are interested in to gain insights into their day-to-day work.

Gain Practical Experience

To gain clarity on your career path, consider gaining practical experience in fields that interest you. This could involve internships, part-time jobs, volunteering, or taking on projects related to your desired career. Practical experience can help you determine if a certain field is… (stopped)

GOD BLESS!

Xiaojie Johan’s Answer

Hello Praise,

Thanks for asking, but my advice is to you is to ask you what you're good at, what you're interested in. I'd also balance that with future career earnings and other assorted factors into your decision. You also want to decide what major you want to study that leads to that job. For example, a career in physics might be appealing, but if you cannot get through the prereqs to get to that point, it is probably not feasible. So think about feasible majors in college that might help you get to the point where you want.

Hopefully this helps!

Best regards,

Johan
