Thank you for your question. The best career is the career you have interest.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

By the way, there are wonderful answers from many contributors for you to consider.
When I was 54, a person interviewing me said " I can't honestly make sense of a typical career path from your resume. You've seemingly gone in multiple different directions."
He hired me. I worked for him for 14 years.
His comments reflected my atypical career path, although I could explain in depth the previous decisions I made.
First, bottom line. When you cannot live with your family, you must provide your own, food, clothing and shelter.
Life will give you, hopefully, time when covered by parental/family coverage of those necessities that you can think about what your career should be.
Don't expect that answer to be simple or unchangeable, especially in the fast-paced world in which we now live. But love interests, geographic preferences, climate-related decisions and other matters can/will intrude on your career interests.
Ask yourself:
What do I like to do?
Am I skilled at what I like to do?
Can it make me a living?
If yes, cool.
If I find I'm not skilled at what I like to do, what am I skilled at?
If nothing, then you gotta get a skill...via class work, military path, journeypersons hiring an apprentice.
Again, do I perform this task/job well enough to be hired in the field and make a living?
I stress making a living as paramount. Being able to pay your bills means freedom. Think it's a big and exciting world? Try to acquire foreign language writing/speaking skills. You can potentially work globally. Coming up fast....one's ability to roll with the AI additions/intrusions in your (my) future.
Bottom, bottom, bottom line. Anticipate uncertainty/change/disruption/adjustments/moments of "Really!"

Absolutely, the other responses hit the nail on the head! Online quizzes can be a fantastic tool to help you zero in on your likes and dislikes. For instance, are you drawn to working independently or do you thrive in a team-oriented environment? Do you envision yourself in a remote role, an office-based job, or perhaps a hands-on role in the field such as a teacher or nurse? By pinpointing your preferences, you'll find that sifting through job descriptions becomes a breeze. You'll have a clearer understanding of what roles align with your personality and preferences, making your job search more efficient and rewarding.

Taking the leap to decide on your career can feel overwhelming, but remember, your passion should be your guide. Start by identifying what truly excites you - it could be a subject you enjoy at school, a hobby, or anything that sparks your curiosity. Once you've pinpointed your interest, delve deeper. Explore the different avenues within that field and educate yourself about them. Many people find it helpful to look up trending jobs related to their interests, and you might find this useful too. Remember, this is your journey, and there's no rush. Take your time, explore your options, and you'll find the path that's perfect for you.

Steve, it's essential to understand that selecting a career is a substantial move that requires careful consideration and self-reflection. There are numerous approaches you can take to scrutinize your options and make an informed decision.
To begin with, assess your preferences, abilities, and ethics. Consider the topics and activities that energize you, along with the talents and skills you naturally possess. Reflect on what motivates and revitalizes you in both personal and professional life. Identifying your passions and values will help you coordinate your career choices with what genuinely resonates with you, increasing the likelihood of finding happiness and fulfillment in your work.
Next, Steve, it's crucial to thoroughly explore different career sectors and industries. Investigate various job roles, their responsibilities, and the required qualifications. Grasp the current job market trends and the demand for various occupations. Consider factors like income potential, job stability, work-life equilibrium, and growth prospects. Collecting this information will enable you to make knowledgeable comparisons and narrow down your options to those that align with your interests and objectives.
Aim to seek opportunities for hands-on experience and discovery. Internships, volunteer work, part-time jobs, and informational interviews are great ways to experience different career paths and industries. Utilize these opportunities to test potential career options, learn from industry experts, and acquire valuable skills and knowledge. Also, think about pursuing further education or training if necessary to qualify for your preferred career path.
Furthermore, Steve, contemplate your long-term goals and aspirations. Picture your future self and the steps required to get there. Establish achievable short-term and long-term goals that will steer your career path. Remain open to change and adaptation, as your interests and priorities may evolve over time. Regularly review your career goals and make necessary modifications to stay on the path towards a gratifying and rewarding career.
Lastly, seek guidance and support from mentors, career counselors, and trusted advisors. Leverage their expertise and insights to gain perspective, overcome challenges, and make informed decisions. Networking with professionals in your chosen field can also provide valuable opportunities for mentorship, advice, and career advancement.
In conclusion, Steve, remember that choosing a career path involves a combination of self-assessment, research, exploration, goal-setting, and support from others. By adopting a proactive and thoughtful approach to career planning, you can discover a path that aligns with your interests, values, and dreams, setting the stage for a successful and satisfying career journey.
