Hello Rashana,

Great question! The day to day responsibilities will vary depending on the setting (Ex.hospital, community nursing, occupational health) and specialty (Ex. ER, medical/surgical, nursing home.) However, there are some general tasks that all nurses will do. Some of these are:

* Obtain health histories and do physical assessments
* Coordinate care in collaboration with the medical team (Ex. MD's, Physical and/or occupational therapists,
social workers, etc.
* Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare personnel like LPNs and nurse aides
* Administer medications, perform various treatments, like wound care
* Provide health promotion, counseling and education
* Interpret patient information from ongoing assessment and make critical decisions about needed actions

Check out this link that will give some more detailed information about nursing and different specialties: http://nursing100.com/what-do-nurses-do-on-a-daily-basis/

Good luck!
Melissa
