What advice do you have for someone who wants to be a historian in aviation? Is this even a possible career?
I love aviation and I love the history behind many of the planes. I was just fascinated by the history and the stories behind airplanes. More specifically military planes during World War 2 #aviation #military #history #historian #planes

What a great career opportunity! You can absolutely be a historian in aviation. There are many aviation museums across the country and around the world that need curators and historians to build and manage their collections and to create programs for their visitors. Think of the Smithsonian, WWI and WWII museums, etc. There are also aviation magazines that are always looking for great historians to write articles. And the military hires historians as well. You can also be a historian who specializes in aviation as well as military history and teach at universities or military training academies.
Good luck! You're on your way to a very exciting career!

I agree with Eva. Near me, we have the New England Air Museum and their subject matter experts who work with children in K-12 programs can tell you about various areas from the historical aspects, to the engine pieces, or align their lectures to what area of STEM the educators are teaching. While many people gain field knowledge from being an engine technician, involved in parts production, or engineering, there is no rule that says one has to come from this field to apply for open roles.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is another place with vast resources on the subject if you want to look into it:
