Many dance colleges have incredibly different programs, so really think about what you want out of your entire college experience. Do you want a school with a good football team? Then you wouldn't want to go to a conservatory program in NYC. Do you want the ability to double major in something academic? That's a question you should ask when you are looking. Do you want a program that's really intense, or do you want a more rounded college experience? Also think about the location you want to be in? If you want to be near the beach, you wouldn't go to school in Utah. Do you want to focus on one style of dance, or do you want the opportunity to train in many styles? The best way to narrow down the best school for you is to think about what you want to gain from your experience, and what your non-negotiables are in a school. Good luck with your search!

The very first thing that you should do is to research the colleges that you are thinking about, or through your career and college counselors they should b e able to help you discover the proper colleges that have the dancing programs that you are interested in. The best thing that you can do for yourself is to go to see a career counselor at a the college near you and check out how to get the best information on the programs for college in dancing. With that said you might want to take the assessments that career centers offer such as interests, personality and many more. That was you would find out if dancing is really what you want to pursue. It might take some time on your part to do the research but if you really want to find the right dance program for yourself the research is the best way starting with the Career Center!
Also if you know of any people that are studying in a dance program, then you should ask them the questions that you are wondering about and they might just have the answer for you. After you research which colleges to check out, then you should visit the campus to see if you are comfortable with the environment and then make an appointment with a counselor in your particular major area and she or he will suggest your next move.
