I’m currently a liberal Arts major, however I want to change into something that I would feel more joy studying, and will open up many other doors for me in the future.

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question.
Below are my suggestions;
1. Think about what can bring you joy or anything you would like to do in your leisure time and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Hey there, Architect here!

It sounds like you're on an exciting journey of discovery, and that's fantastic. Choosing a major can feel like a big decision, but it's also a chance to explore your passions and find something that brings you joy. Here's how architecture might be that perfect fit:

Joyful Studies: Imagine taking a class where you get to unleash your creativity, solve problems with design thinking, and see your ideas come to life – that's what architecture is all about! You'll be working with inspiring spaces, collaborating with passionate people, and making a real impact on the world.

Future Opportunities: The field of architecture is booming with possibilities. From designing sustainable buildings to creating innovative urban spaces, architects are in high demand. You could specialize in anything from residential design to historic preservation, or even delve into the world of virtual reality and 3D printing buildings!

Here are some tips to help you decide if architecture is your calling:

- Explore Your Interests: Do you love sketching, building models, or spending hours lost in museums admiring great architecture? These are all signs that architecture could be a great fit.

- Talk to an Architect: Connect with a local architect and ask them about their day-to-day work. Their passion for the field might be contagious!

- Take an Intro Class: Many colleges offer introductory architecture courses. This is a fantastic way to dip your toes in and see if you love the process.

Remember, a liberal arts background is a strong foundation for architecture. It gives you excellent communication and critical thinking skills, which are essential for any architect.

Don't be afraid to follow your heart! If architecture sparks your curiosity and brings you joy, then it might just be the perfect path for you. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about the world of architecture – I'm always happy to chat with someone as enthusiastic as you!

Joseph’s Answer

You have to make that decision based on your studies in Liberal Arts. Decide what intrigues you and were you believe your best options is based on your likes. Remember you have to enjoy what your doing or is not fun and can be a downer. I've learned from my experience its not all about the money its about the people and a job you can enjoy and have opportunities.

Joanna Rose’s Answer

Hello Leila,

To determine which major is right for you and your future, start by assessing your interests, strengths, and career aspirations. Think about the subjects or activities that engage you the most and explore how these could translate into a major and eventually a career. Research potential career paths associated with different majors, including job prospects, salary expectations, and industry growth, to understand their long-term viability. It’s also beneficial to talk to current students, professors, and professionals in fields of interest to gain insights and firsthand experiences. Finally, consider your learning style and academic strengths to ensure that the major you choose aligns well with your educational preferences and abilities.

Danuta’s Answer

Dear Leila:
I invite you to start a self-rection journal. Write in it your daily observation of your likes vs dislikes of things you do, the people you are surrounded with, and the things that make you happy or unhappy. You could also make an Excel sheet with columns to help you log in your events and self-observations. We often hear the term, "find your passion." However, the truth is that many people became passionate about something after they carried out a specific task many times and became good at it. The feeling of success and satisfaction with achieving positive results with something leads to evoking passion in many people.
