Hi Ezekiel,
It's awesome that you're thinking about building a website!
Here's some advice to help a student like you create something great:
1. Laying the Foundation:
* Define Your Purpose: What's the main goal of your website? Is it to showcase your work, sell products, share information, or build a community?
* Know Your Audience: Who are you trying to reach? What are their interests and needs? This will guide your design and content choices.
* Choose a Domain Name: This is your website's address (e.g., [http://www.yourname.com).]www.yourname.com). Make it memorable, relevant, and easy to spell.
2. Building the Structure:
* Website Builder or DIY?: Website builders (like Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy) are user-friendly and require no coding. If you want more control, consider learning basic HTML and CSS or using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress.
* Plan Your Pages: What pages do you need (Home, About, Contact, etc.)? Sketch out a basic sitemap to organize your content.
* Navigation is Key: Make sure your website is easy to navigate. Visitors should be able to find what they need quickly.
3. Designing the Look:
* Keep it Clean and Simple: Avoid clutter. A clean design with clear headings and whitespace is more visually appealing.
* Mobile-First: Most people browse on their phones. Make sure your website looks good and functions well on all devices.
* Choose Colors and Fonts Wisely: Stick to a limited color palette and choose fonts that are easy to read.
* Use High-Quality Images: Blurry or pixelated images look unprofessional. Use high-resolution images that are relevant to your content.
4. Creating Compelling Content:
* Write for Your Audience: Use clear, concise language that your target audience will understand.
* Break Up Text: Use headings, subheadings, bullet points, and images to make your content easier to read.
* Tell a Story: Whether it's your personal story or the story of your brand, connect with your audience on an emotional level.
5. Essential Extras:
* Call to Action: What do you want visitors to do on your website? Make it clear with buttons or links (e.g., "Contact Me," "Shop Now").
* Contact Information: Make it easy for people to get in touch with you. Include a contact form or your email address.
* SEO Basics: Learn the basics of search engine optimization (SEO) to help people find your website in search results.
Resources for Website Building:
* Website builder platforms: Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, Weebly
* Content management systems: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal
* Online tutorials: YouTube, Skillshare, Codecademy
Building a website is a journey of learning and creativity. Don't be afraid to experiment, get feedback, and keep improving your site over time. Good luck!

I would suggest starting by conducting a thorough review of existing websites for services/goods similar to what you intend to offer and make a detailed list of what you like/don't like and what you works/doesn't work to formulate some context for how your website will be better. Your review should include not only the graphic design but also navigation and of course content. If you don't write well either find someone to help you or see how far you can get with ChatGPT.
After you conclude your research and create the content for your offering, go to any of the website design apps mentioned by others here and have a go at it. It may not be perfect the first time around but you'll learn a lot about websites, graphic design, sales and not least, YOURSELF. After you're reasonably satisfied with what you designed, order a pizza and invite a few friends over who fit the age/demographics of your target customers to experience your website as a potential customer. Then have them do the same thing with the top three websites you researched in step #1 and ask them to compare yours with the top three. Would they buy from you or one of the others? Why? What would make your website more appealing to a customer? Take notes of their responses and then go back to revise/redesign/tweak your website accordingly. Chances are you'll end up with a terrific website that you can be proud of.
Hope that helps-

To create a website for your business, start by identifying your target audience and understanding their needs and preferences. Once you have a clear understanding of who you're catering to, you can select a platform to build your website.
If you're looking for a cost-effective option, consider using free website builders like Wix, Weebly, or WordPress.com. These platforms offer user-friendly interfaces and customizable templates to help you create a professional-looking website without requiring coding skills.
Alternatively, if you prefer more flexibility and customization options, you can opt for paid website builders like Squarespace or Shopify. While these options may involve a monthly fee, they offer additional features and support to help you create a tailored website that meets your business needs.
Regardless of the platform you choose, focus on creating a visually appealing and easy-to-navigate website that effectively communicates your brand identity and showcases your products or services. Be sure to optimize your website for search engines (SEO) to improve its visibility and attract potential customers. Finally, regularly update your website with fresh content and stay responsive to feedback to ensure its continued success.
