Hi Ruby,
This is great ! you should then take up MATH as a major. With the advent of the internet and smart phones, there is a lot of data and statisticians will be in great demand to make sense of the data and to predict future behavior based on existing data. This is a very important field.

Joan’s Answer

Hi Ruby!

I had the same question as you and I hope I can provide a better answer than what was given to me. I ended up majoring in Mechanical Engineering (with a heavy concentration in math) because I didn't know the answer.

You could become a math teacher or professor, an actuary (calculate risks, such as with an insurance company), a data scientist (to determine and predict trends in large amounts of data), an accountant, a trader on wall street, and lots more! College majors are usually used for a company to evaluate your drive and interest, and technical majors are very attractive to companies. I've never had a Mechanical Engineering job even though I have a Mechanical Engineering major. Any job that requires analyzing patterns and predicting future results would appreciate a math major.

Hope this helps!
