Join the cadets. As long as you have the ambition to do this nothing should stop you from your goals and dream. 😁

Thank you comment icon Great Answer! I joined the Police Explorer Program (a branch of the Boy Scouts) sponsored by my Police Dept when I was in high school, due to my interest in Police Work. It gave me a taste of what police work involved, and helped me decide to continue into a law enforcement career! The Explorer Program is for boys/girls 14-21. After becoming an Officer, I became an advisor of the same Explorer Post I was a member of! There are many positions that are appropriate for a person with Autism that are not "sworn" positions, otherwise known as civilian positions in Police Departments/Agencies like Fingerprint Technician, Program Assistant, Evidence Technician, Receptionist. Of course it would depend on your personal abilities. Best of luck! Michael W. Blanchette

I would recommend going to college for something you’re passionate about and then trying to do that as a job. Like me for example, I got a degree in forensic science and a job as a crime scene investigator. I think it goes well with my autism because I can be left alone and solve crimes in whatever way I think is best.
