Hi Amy,
For psychology internships, your best bet is helping as a research assistant. To do this, I would recommend two methods: 1) go to college websites near you and reach out to research labs asking if they are looking for any research assistants. 2) go online and search research assistant positions and see if there are any available -- there may even be some virtual ones!
It is important to just get experience at this point, so if you're really just looking to get some time in a lab, you could also offer volunteering or making it clear that you're not looking for compensation.
Best,
Andrea!

Hi Amy,
High school internships are pretty hard to come by. You could possibly reach out to a hospital or medical establishment and ask them if they could do an unpaid internship for you as a high school student or even let you job shadow.
If you go into speech therapy that is a master's degree and it will have build-in experience into the program

Here is information on speech therapy
As far as an internship in college you will want to work with career services on your campus to help you find an internship. Sometimes your professors will even know of internship opportunities.
I hope this helps!

Hi Amy,
To secure internships as a high school junior interested in speech therapy or psychology, consider reaching out to local businesses such as Memorial Regional Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, and Broward Health Medical Center, which may offer internship opportunities in these fields. Additionally, therapy centers like Therapies 4 Kids and Psychological Services of South Florida could be potential options for gaining experience in speech therapy and psychology.
Networking with professionals at these local businesses and exploring their internship programs can help you kickstart your career in these fields.
To enhance your networking and internship opportunities, consider partnering with organizations like the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the American Psychological Association (APA). These organizations offer resources, networking events, and internship opportunities that can help you connect with professionals in the speech therapy and psychology fields.
Additionally, local chapters of organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Autism Society of Florida can provide valuable networking opportunities and insights into internship programs in mental health and therapy. Engaging with these organizations can help you build connections and access internship opportunities tailored to your interests.
Best wishes to you!
