There are so many factors that can go into this. I found the most success when I started surrounding myself with people who wanted the same thing I did; a better life through education.
Much of my success as an adult has been through using my calendar, staying organized and seeking out help when I need it. The same could be applied to getting your degree. There are SOOOO many resources available on campus to help you succeed. If you ask for help, it will be available.

Think of why you're trying to achieve your goal. Motivation isn't enough to keep you going, as you'll be motivated to take a break, hang out with friends, etc. When you know the reason why you're doing something at the forefront of your mind, it will help you to keep it on track if you want to do something else.
