Hey there! It's awesome that you're thinking about starting your own business at such a young age! There are plenty of cool options out there that you can explore, especially since you're balancing school too. One great idea might be to tap into your passions and interests. Do you love crafting, baking, or maybe even digital design? Think about what you enjoy doing in your spare time and see if you can turn it into a business.

Since you mentioned wanting to work from home and around your school schedule, consider something flexible like selling handmade crafts online, offering tutoring services in a subject you excel at, or even starting a small social media management business for local businesses. These options allow you to manage your time effectively and still have fun while making some extra cash. Plus, they can be scaled up as you gain more experience and confidence in your entrepreneurial skills.

Remember, starting a business is all about learning and growing, so don't be afraid to try new things and experiment along the way. It's your journey, so make sure to enjoy it and take pride in what you accomplish! And if you ever need advice or support, there are plenty of resources and communities out there to help you succeed. You've got this!

Hello, Claire !

The ideal business for you would focus on something that you love to do. Without saying exactly what your skills and interests are, it will be difficult to say what YOUR ideal niche would be. Your first step in figuring out work that would be good for you would be to make a list of all the things you enjoy doing and narrowing down to which you believe is ideal.

One thing that you can do is think about how you could get involved on the weekends in New York City's many Flea Markets. My favorite one is the Chelsea Flea Market. You can think about what item you'd like to center on - crafts, painting, jewelry, etc. If you are interested in that, you can make your items and sell them at flea markets. Do a search online for a list of them in NYC. This experience would provide customer service skills and give you a chance to make extra money.

Clarify your criteria for what you deem ideal. Do you enjoy being on the computer ? If so, you can do remote Data Entry work which you could most likely work around your school schedule. Visit as many Employment websites as possible and set notifications for the type of work you like to do. Work on a resume and learn about interviewing and you will be well on your way. Apply to as many jobs that seem awesome to you .

If you have an interest in working in one of the many hospitals around your area, visit their Human Resources Department and inquire about data entry or food service work or any available jobs you may qualify for. You can also consider working retail in a clothing store if styling and fashion are your interests.

I have left some referral links for you below that have jobs for your age group. I hope that they are a good source for your job search and I wish you all the best !

Hey there, Claire!

There's a whole world of business ideas out there that a 17-year-old like you could dive into, right from the comfort of your own home and during your free time. Here are a few you might like:

Online Tutoring: If you're a whiz in a certain subject, why not share that knowledge? You could offer online tutoring to younger students who need a little extra help with their schoolwork.

Social Media Management: If you're a pro at navigating social media, consider offering your skills to businesses and individuals who need help keeping their accounts active and engaging. You could help them craft posts, plan their content schedule, and interact with their followers.

Handmade Crafts: Got a knack for creating beautiful things? You could make and sell your own handmade crafts online. This could be anything from jewelry and accessories to artwork and personalized gifts.

Blogging or Vlogging: If you love to write or make videos, starting a blog or YouTube channel about something you're passionate about could be a great idea. You could even make money from advertising or sponsored content.

Graphic Design: If you've got a talent for graphic design, you could offer your services to create eye-catching logos, social media graphics, or website designs for small businesses or individuals.

Virtual Assistance: Lots of entrepreneurs and small business owners could use a helping hand with tasks like managing emails, scheduling, or data entry. Offering virtual assistance could be a great way to help them stay on top of things.
