Hi Felice,
As a junior in high school, now is a good time to think about journalism programs in college. Although, an English, Communications, Broadcasting, Media Production or Public Relations degree would also set you up for a career in journalism.
There are two sides to these fields - content creation and production. Those are different skillsets, so I would suggest giving some thought to what you like about the broadcasting and podcasting. Is it the technology side? Are you interested in being a producer? Or are you looking to create content? Content creators need to have unique ideas and messages - so strong writing skills are a focus.
Take some time to think about what aspects interest you and that will help you decide what track to pursue.
Good luck!

Great work, Felice- you are already on the road to success.
Stay with the club.
join student state organizations for broadcasting- press associations, broadcast associations, etc.
Enter contests.
Go to workshops and conferences.
Network with other schools and visit, share tips, etc.
Look for a mentor in the business- it could be a teacher, etc., and seek their advice.
Look up other broadcasters, podcasters you admire and follow their journey.
Where did they go to school, how did they get their start. Not sure? Ask them.
Remember to be polite and professional in all of your correspondence.
Look for schools now - and have them reach out to you and show you what they have to offer.
Don't settle. Work hard
Most importantly - be you- offer them something unique- you!
All the best.
