Hi Kayla, Great question! If you have an interest in creative writing and design, consider how those two things are different and how they might go together. Consider choosing to focus either or design and art or on the writing. That said, many self-published authors have great success using digital tools like Amazon's publishing program, B&N, or IngramSpark so you can print and sell your books on online platforms. Also, try checking with your local library to see if they have groups or programs to support writers. Good luck!

Hello Kayla,
To become a digital editor, you should focus on developing your skills in both content editing and design. Here are some steps to help you get started:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field can provide a solid foundation for a career as a digital editor. Some employers may prefer candidates with advanced degrees or certifications in editing or graphic design.
Gain Experience: Look for internships or entry-level positions in digital media companies, publishing houses, or marketing firms to gain hands-on experience in editing and design. This will help you build a portfolio and make valuable industry connections.
Build Your Skills: Familiarize yourself with popular design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite. Learn the basics of HTML and CSS to create and edit web content. Develop your writing and editing skills by reading extensively and practicing your craft regularly.
Networking: Connect with professionals in the industry through social media platforms like LinkedIn, attend industry events, and join professional organizations to expand your network and learn about job opportunities.
Publishing Your Book: To publish your book, consider self-publishing through platforms like Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing or Smashwords. Alternatively, you can submit your manuscript to traditional publishing houses or literary agents for consideration. Research the publishing process thoroughly before making a decision, as each option has its advantages and disadvantages.
Stay Updated: Keep up with the latest trends in digital media and design by following industry blogs, attending workshops, and participating in online communities dedicated to these fields. This will help you stay competitive in the job market and continue growing as a professional editor.**

Kayla, embarking on a career path that truly ignites your passion is exhilarating! If your natural abilities lie in design, sketching, and art, you're already making strides. Should your aspirations lean towards becoming an author, begin by writing anything that sparks your interest - short stories, blogs, posts, articles. Enrich your content with relevant illustrations or artwork.
Consider enrolling in a school that specializes in these areas. Participate in writing classes and familiarize yourself with story and character development. Networking is crucial, so connect with individuals who share your interests. An internship, as suggested by someone else, is an excellent idea. Interacting with professionals during your school years will provide valuable contacts for your future career.
Remember to pursue a broad education, exposing yourself to a range of topics. You may not find them interesting now, but your preferences could evolve over time.
Best of luck on your exciting journey!

The more courses you take around design and writing, the more marketable you will be. I would then suggest trying to get a paid internship, to practice these skills. Nothing beats experience with mastering your role!
Thanks for your encouragement!
